What to expect on your first visit
Your first appointment is when we gather all the information about the problem you have come with and about your general health and past medical history. We ask lots of questions so we can get to do our best detective work, get a rounded picture of your health and find out the root cause of your problem. We will give you lifestyle advice and self-management strategies to go alongside any treatment. We will discuss our findings and diagnosis with you and advise if Osteopathic treatment or referral anywhere else is what you need. It’s really important to establish what YOU want to get out of treatment so that we can formulate a plan to help you reach your goals. We will give you a summary of what we’ve discussed the action plan we agree together at the end of your appointment so that we’ve got a clear plan to get you where you want to be. We will always discuss treatment options together.
We will need to do some examination and tests during your appointment to help us get to a diagnosis and sometimes this involves needing to remove outer clothing so we can examine properly. You are welcome to bring a chaperone, just let us know if this would make you feel more comfortable, and we can provide a gown if this helps you feel more at ease. You might want to consider what type of clothing you wear for your first appointment, if you’d like any help with this, just give a call before your appointment and we can advise.
