I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Callum Smith, I’m a manual therapist joining the team at Osteopathy Plus. I have a background in care and have worked clinically within the NHS in the diabetic eye screening team. I am in my 4th year of a degree in Osteopathy. I decided to change my career to study Osteopathy after an injury I sustained was successfully treated by an Osteopath. This motivated me to want to learn more to study this profession. I am absolutely loving learning and treating patients.
My approach to treatment is person specific, I recognise that what works for one person might not work for another – the analogy of one glove does not fit all! I start by taking a full history both to understand the problem, understand past medical history and to understand what lifestyle factors may also be contributing to what is going on. I look at the problem area but also globally through the body to treat the person as a whole. I use a range of treatment techniques including a variety of Osteopathic techniques to address both the muscular system and the joints and spine to restore function and movement and to relieve pain. I will always explain my findings, diagnosis and treatment plan with you before we begin any treatment to make sure you are happy and comfortable with the treatment plan.I have had the pleasure of working with people from all walks of life, from sports people to weekend warriors to builders to office workers to name a few. My particular interests lie in treating sports related injuries and in exploring the mid/body connection and it’s influence on health. I look forward to working with you soon.
